What to Visit on Your School Trip to Salou

Salou is a small coastal town, but it sits very close to major cities such as Tarragona and Barcelona, which means it has plenty of interesting places to visit. The Costa Daurada also offers a wide range of leisure and entertainment activities: zip lines, adventure parks, water sports, theme parks, water parks, shops and bars, and much more. Want to know what to visit on your school trip to Salou? Discover it all with our Natuaventura guide.

But there is also room for learning and exploring the beautiful coastal surroundings: you can visit archaeological sites such as those in Tarragona or Salou itself, walk the Camino de Ronda in search of the perfect sunset or sunrise, or simply discover the charm of coastal villages like Cambrils. Here we tell you everything you need to know about Salou on your school trip.

Camino de Ronda

The Camino de Ronda is a 5.5-kilometre coastal path that runs along the shoreline from the Pilons area to Cap Salou. In the past, these ronda paths followed the coastline and were used for coastal surveillance or by fishermen. Today, walking these paths is a moment of peace and a chance to take in the coastal landscape around you — and, of course, to find the best sunsets on the Costa Daurada. Along the Camino de Ronda you will discover the great natural and scenic richness of the Salou coastline. In addition to the different views you encounter along the way, the path passes by beautiful beaches and coves, making it a different way to explore the Cap Salou area and reach the Salou Lighthouse.

Torre Vella of Salou

The Torre Vella (Old Tower) of Salou is an ancient defensive tower built in 1530 to protect the local population from the pirates and corsairs who threatened these shores. Today, this restored tower — surrounded by a lovely garden — is used for exhibitions, ceremonies and all kinds of local celebrations. What is more, entry is free, so it is not to be missed. If you are wondering what to visit on your school trip to Salou, start here — it is the jewel of its historic centre.

Passeig Marítim Jaume I

Nothing beats a stroll along the seafront for inspiration, relaxation and soaking up the atmosphere. This 2-kilometre seafront promenade is lined with giant palm trees, restaurants, playgrounds and fountains to cool off on the hottest days. At its heart stands the magnificent statue of Jaume I the Conqueror, who set sail from these shores with 16,000 men to conquer Mallorca. This is one of the must-see spots on your school trip to Salou and the meeting point for locals and tourists strolling at all hours, whether on foot or by bicycle — another perfect activity to do with your students.

Bosc Aventura Salou

Bosc Aventura is a leafy multiadventure park in the heart of Salou, with 800 m² of outdoor facilities for fun among the trees — exciting and safe, always under the supervision of experienced staff. In total it has 4 circuits of different difficulty levels and 55 different aerial challenges, zip lines of up to 80 metres in length and up to 10 metres in height, plus a climbing wall, mini-golf, paintball and archery. If you want an exciting afternoon and a real outdoor adventure sport, this is your best option.

Ornamental Fountains of Salou

Want to know another unmissable place to visit on your school trip to Salou? The Salou light fountains are a spectacular show of water, light and colour. Together with the Labyrinth and the Cybernetic Fountain — which also stages evening shows — they form one of the town’s greatest attractions.

The Luminous Fountain operates every evening during summer, and at weekends and public holidays for the rest of the year. It is located at the end of the Passeig Jaume I. Its combinations of lights and water can produce up to 210 different patterns. This fountain holds great symbolic importance for the town of Salou and for many years has been one of its most iconic and emblematic attractions.

Meanwhile, the Salou Cybernetic Fountain has been recently renovated and now presents a brand-new show titled «Symphony of Light». It features an original soundtrack combining electronic bases with classical instrumentation and special effects, building from a simple, abstract opening to a complex, harmonious finale. The show lasts 15 minutes and can be seen every evening.

The fountain tour of Salou ends with the Salou Labyrinth — a game of water jets that is great fun for the school group to navigate while trying not to get wet before reaching the finish (we will warn you now: it is quite difficult, making it a great way to beat the heat).
