Water sports at Isla Canela<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Isla Canela is a vast beach of golden sand where you can take part in all kinds of water sports: kayaking, sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and more \u2014 as well as walking for kilometres along the shore. Do not miss the stunning sunsets that can be seen from these beaches, reflected in the pools of water that form at the water’s edge. Absolutely unmissable! Isla Canela is located in the municipality of Ayamonte, a charming small town that you must visit for its winding streets, traditional little bars, and authentic Andalusian atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Visit the fish market at Isla Cristina<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the fish market (Lonja) of Isla Cristina \u2014 one of the most important in Spain alongside that of Vigo \u2014 you can witness first-hand the entire journey of the fish: from the moment the boats arrive at the harbour, unload the crates of fresh fish, and take them to the market to be auctioned. We can go along and take in the atmosphere (though buying at auction is not permitted to the public). Every day, hundreds and hundreds of kilograms of fresh fish and seafood arrive, with the star of the auction in this part of the country being the white prawn, served as a tapa and aperitivo in every bar.<\/p>\n

El Asperillo cliffs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

These sandy cliffs are striking both for their almost 30 metres in height and their kilometres of length. Beyond their scenic value, they also hold significant geological and ecological importance. Discover them via marked trails such as the Cuesta Maneli path, where you can also learn about the evolution of the dunes through different ecosystems, right down to the cliffs themselves.<\/p>\n

R\u00edo Tinto Mining Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Visit the Mining Museum and explore this park aboard the tourist railway, learning in detail about the area’s mining history. Located in the former hospital of the Riotinto Company Limited \u2014 the English company that managed mining operations in Huelva until 1954 \u2014 the museum immerses you fully in history, whilst the railway takes you on a 12-kilometre journey through the old mining basin, bringing visitors face to face with the R\u00edo Tinto, whose intense reddish colour, caused by the presence of heavy metals, makes it a unique ecosystem in the world.<\/p>\n

A History lesson at the Columbus Sites<\/strong><\/h2>\n

And to round off these 10 things to do on your school trip to Do\u00f1ana, an open-air History lesson on the Discovery of America. In Palos de la Frontera, where the Odiel and Tinto rivers meet, there is a replica of the caravels that accompanied Columbus on his first voyage during the Discovery of America. You can also visit, very close to the Muelle de las Carabelas, the Monastery of La R\u00e1bida \u2014 a key location in the preparations for the long journey to the Indies.
