A summer camp is how many children leave home for the first time to enjoy a period away from their usual surroundings. It is a moment of growth and confidence, but also of fun and new experiences. Summer camps are packed with activities that, due to their characteristics, setting, or the equipment they require, are not part of children’s and teenagers’ everyday lives. This creates experiential learning: through practice, each child discovers what they enjoy most and, in doing so, shapes their personality. Experience is where the deepest learning takes place. That is why a summer camp with tent accommodation is a unique opportunity for young people.<\/p>\n

This is exactly what the Navarredonda summer camp offers. Year after year it is one of the camps that fills its places fastest, and it has one of the highest return rates of any camp run by Natuaventura Ocio y Tiempo Libre. This is because Navarredonda is not just any summer camp \u2014 it is a complete experience. Located in the Sierra de Gredos, in the province of \u00c1vila, this camp is built around thirteen days packed with activities, shared living, fun, and learning. It is a unique way for children aged 7 to 17 to spend their summer holidays. The fact that these days are \u00abfree time\u00bb away from school and formal education does not mean they are free of learning. Quite the opposite. As a summer camp, Navarredonda continuously offers the chance to learn \u2014 and in the best possible way: through play and enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Navarredonda summer camp: a unique experience in the heart of nature<\/b><\/h2>\n

One of the main reasons Navarredonda is one of the best summer camps is that the experience it offers is inherently tied to nature. This is made possible by the camp’s location and by the working philosophy that shapes its programme and day-to-day running. At the heart of Navarredonda’s organisation as a summer camp is a deep care for and respect of nature. The very facility where it takes place is, in fact, called Aula de la Naturaleza \u2014 the Nature Classroom. This clearly symbolises the close bond between this summer camp and the experience of total immersion in the natural environment. Spending fifteen days at Navarredonda is not just about learning games and team activities or sharing time with fellow campers. It is also about discovering a new way of relating to the world around us.<\/p>\n

The Aula de la Naturaleza facility where the camp is held is an enclosed, private space with all the equipment needed for a comfortable stay. From within the site itself, the pine forests so typical of the area are clearly visible. The village of Navarredonda de Gredos lies 5 kilometres away, nestled in the Sierra de Gredos. This setting means that, through a wide range of activities, the children taking part in the camp are in constant contact with the natural environment. In this way they learn, through play and fun, to care for their surroundings, and build a relationship of respect and affection with nature \u2014 something fundamental to their growth as adults and to the preservation of our planet. All activities at this camp are built around this philosophy as their core value.<\/p>\n

Navarredonda summer camp: the organisation<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Navarredonda summer camp has two sessions. The first runs from 2 to 14 July, and the second from 17 to 29 of the same month. Throughout these thirteen days, the children attending the Navarredonda summer camp enjoy a programme full of activities. This programme is designed months before the camp begins, with particular attention paid to the balance of activities and the educational and recreational objectives set by the camp coordination team. During these days, activities held on-site alternate with activities outside the facility, such as excursions and multiadventure outings. This balance is essential to ensure that every day at camp is full of excitement and brings a fresh experience at every turn.<\/p>\n

The Navarredonda summer camp welcomes participants from 7 to 17 years of age. It has a capacity of 120 campers, who are generally divided into three age groups: the juniors (7 to 10 years), the intermediates (11 to 13 years), and the seniors (14 to 17 years). These groups are always formed on an approximate basis, taking into account the actual age distribution of participants each year. The aim is to create groups that are as homogeneous as possible in terms of age, so that the programme can be tailored as effectively as possible to the characteristics of each subgroup. Several activities are also organised in which all subgroups take part together \u2014 helping to foster a sense of unity among participants that feels like a true family.<\/p>\n
