The accommodation at a summer camp is one of the key characteristics that shapes the spirit and activities programme of the camp itself. It is the communal living space for a group over ten or fifteen days, and must therefore offer all possible comforts in keeping with the philosophy of the camp in question. The accommodation at a summer camp must harmonise both the educational aims of the camp and the activities it carries out to ensure days of fun and enjoyment. In this way, the programme adapts to the type of accommodation in the same way that the accommodation is used to support particular activities. For this reason, at a summer camp the group and the dynamics it generates are just as important as having accommodation that reinforces and encourages those dynamics.<\/p>\n

Sierra Norte Hostel is one of the finest examples of the importance of accommodation at a summer camp. It is the venue for the Madrid multiadventure camp, its activities and group dynamics. Madrid Multiadventure Camp: accommodation in wooden cabins<\/b><\/h2>\n

One of the images most associated with summer camps is that of wooden cabins. After tents, they are probably one of the elements that best defines the spirit of outdoor fun that every summer camp should embody. The Madrid multiadventure camp provides accommodation in wooden cabins. These cabins are located within the private Sierra Norte Hostel estate, in the village of Manjir\u00f3n, as mentioned above. They are wooden cabins with capacity for six people. Inside, there are three bunk beds and a couple of spaces where camp participants can leave their rucksacks and belongings. If Sierra Norte Hostel becomes home to the participants of the Madrid multiadventure camp for fourteen days, the wooden cabins are the bedrooms of that home.<\/p>\n

The cabin allocation takes place on the first day of camp. Participants can be placed with friends they arrived with, or with those they have already got on well with during the first group activities. This cabin allocation takes into account the age groups at the camp, so that participants share with others of the same or similar age. In addition, the cabins are not mixed, although the rest of the camp’s activities are. In this way, the cabins become the rest space for participants. Each cabin has a monitor responsible for it, who will be the key point of contact for that group throughout the entire camp \u2014 the person who knows them best and who makes sure day after day that the camp is going well for them.<\/p>\n

Madrid Multiadventure Camp: hostel facilities<\/b><\/h2>\n

Accommodation at the Madrid multiadventure camp is in cabins, as described above. These are situated within the Sierra Norte Hostel estate and benefit from the hostel’s wider facilities. The hostel has two dining rooms \u2014 one outdoor and one indoor. The indoor dining room is where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served for the Madrid multiadventure camp and has capacity for up to 120 participants. It is located next to the hostel kitchen, where daily menus are prepared. The food is based on fresh produce, with home-cooked, balanced dishes that provide the energy needed for camp life. The hostel also has a dedicated washroom building, where participants can use the toilets and showers to maintain the personal hygiene needed to stay active and happy throughout the camp.<\/p>\n

The Madrid multiadventure camp hostel has extensive green areas and spaces dedicated to recreation and sport. One of these features a football pitch that the campers make great use of during free time, and which, like the rest of the hostel’s areas, is also used for treasure hunts and games. One of the main attractions of this hostel is its dedicated multiadventure area, divided into three sections: archery, climbing, and zip-lining. All these activities together form the heart of the Madrid multiadventure camp programme. These open spaces within the Sierra Norte Hostel estate allow participants to enjoy a camp in the heart of nature, with constant contact with the outdoors underpinning many of the camp’s activities.<\/p>\n
