The Villar Multi-Adventure & Beach Summer Camp<\/h2>\n

One of the most highly rated multi-adventure summer camps in our programme is the Villar camp<\/strong>, set in the heart of Cantabria, northern Spain. At Natuaventura we have been running and continually improving this camp since 2004<\/strong>, making it one of our flagship offerings.<\/p>\n

The camp takes place in the village of Villar de Campoo<\/strong>, a small and welcoming community nestled in the very heart of Cantabria, just 12 kilometres from Reinosa. Throughout the whole of July, this village becomes home to our campers, who quickly feel at ease among its streets and friendly locals.<\/p>\n

    1. How the Villar Camp is Organised<\/h3>\n

    The Villar multi-adventure summer camp<\/a> runs across two fortnightly sessions<\/strong>: the first from 1 to 14 July, and the second from 16 to 29 July. Each session has a total capacity of 120 places<\/strong>, open to children and young people aged 7 to 17 years old<\/strong>. Participants are divided into two age groups: the younger group (ages 7\u201312) and the older group (ages 13\u201317). This division is a working guide; the final groupings are confirmed on-site once the actual age distribution of each cohort is known.<\/p>\n

    Despite this separation, the vast majority of activities at Villar are carried out together, since one of the core aims of our activity leaders is to create a strong sense of family<\/strong> throughout the 15 days. This is undoubtedly one of Villar’s defining characteristics. With over 20 years of history<\/strong> behind it, the camp has built a remarkable culture of trust and togetherness \u2014 around 80% of each group are returning campers from previous years. Year after year at Villar, familiar faces reunite and already consider themselves family, whilst warmly welcoming those who are joining for the first time.<\/p>\n

    2. The Accommodation: Albergue Las Indianas<\/h3>\n

    The Villar Multi-Adventure & Beach Camp is based at the Albergue Las Indianas<\/strong> and its surrounding grounds \u2014 a beautifully restored traditional Campoo farmhouse set right in the middle of the village of Villar, surrounded by grazing meadows, oak and beech forests, and rivers with natural swimming pools and waterfalls.<\/p>\n

    The hostel has capacity for 120 guests across 22 spacious, light-filled rooms<\/strong> sleeping between 2 and 12 people. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms.<\/strong> Meals are prepared on-site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and cooked in the traditional home-cooked style. The hostel also offers Wi-Fi, a restaurant, shared common rooms, a games room for younger campers, a football pitch, gardens, terraces, private parking, and open meadows for play.<\/p>\n

    3. Multi-Adventure & Beach Programme<\/h3>\n

    What sets the Villar programme apart is its unique combination of mountain multi-adventure activities<\/strong> with memorable days at the beach<\/strong> on the Cantabrian coast. Thanks to the hostel’s excellent location in open countryside, campers have direct access to stunning natural surroundings for activities including hiking<\/strong>, orienteering<\/strong>, rock climbing<\/strong>, canyoning<\/strong>, zip wire<\/strong>, and archery<\/strong>. These form the backbone of the programme, and alongside them the camp also organises two full beach days in Santander<\/strong> \u2014 one of which includes a surf lesson<\/strong> delivered by a certified surf school.<\/p>\n

    Surfing at Somo Beach<\/h4>\n

    Campers are divided into beginner and advanced groups for their surf lesson at Playa de Somo<\/strong>, where they are each provided with a surfboard and wetsuit. After a brief theory session on the sand, they head into the Atlantic waves accompanied by their activity leaders and qualified surf instructors. For many participants it becomes the undisputed highlight of the entire fortnight.<\/p>\n

    Beach Olympics<\/h4>\n

    The second beach day also takes place at Somo and has a very special energy: a full programme of Beach Olympics<\/strong>, organised jointly with the Natuaventura Santander Fortnight Camp<\/a>. Both camps compete against one another across 15 team games, putting sporting ability, creativity and teamwork to the test. The day ends with a podium ceremony and medal presentation, followed by a well-earned collective plunge into the sea.<\/p>\n

    Evening Events, Workshops & Theme Days<\/h4>\n

    Beyond the outdoor and water-based schedule, the Villar activity leaders organise a rich programme of supplementary events: craft workshops, campfire evenings, themed days, and team challenge circuits that are firm favourites with returning campers. All of this makes Villar one of the most complete and well-rounded summer camp programmes you will find anywhere.<\/p>\n
