The participants of a Sixth Form end-of-year trip are very close to adulthood. As a result, these trips allow for greater distances to destinations. This broadens the range of possibilities considerably. International travel becomes one of the most popular options, and far more feasible than for trips at other ages. This does not mean that domestic destinations are not also an excellent choice for Sixth Form end-of-year trips. Whatever the destination, end-of-year trips for these year groups have one important difference compared to others: the nature of the group itself. The participants are more independent, more responsible for themselves, and have the autonomy and self-awareness to make their own decisions. As a result, a wide range of possibilities opens up among the potential destinations.
From the age of 14, minors may travel unaccompanied by adults on flights. This, combined with the proximity of Sixth Form groups to adulthood and their desire for greater independence, means that these groups often organise their trips without parents or teachers present — something common at younger ages. However, this is not compulsory. Many Sixth Form end-of-year trips, whatever the destination, include a tour guide or team of group leaders. Whatever the case, what matters most at these ages is the type of engagement established with the destination. Greater age means more possibilities, a different way of relating to the surroundings, and a richer capacity to absorb knowledge and experiences.

Sixth Form End-of-Year Trips: Domestic Destinations
There is undoubtedly one domestic destination that stands out as the top choice for Sixth Form end-of-year trips: Mallorca. Trips to Mallorca tick all the main boxes for participants in this age group. It is a beach destination, usually blessed with excellent weather, and offers a wealth of sporting and water-based activities. At the same time, there is plenty of entertainment on offer, as many accommodation providers put together complete packages for three or four days of fun and adventure. The fact that this destination has become so popular in recent years — almost a tradition — creates a very particular atmosphere, which is one of its greatest attractions. Numerous schools from all across Spain converge there, making it possible to meet peers of the same age from different parts of the country but with the same interests.
Even though Mallorca is the top domestic destination, this does not mean there are no other options for Sixth Form end-of-year trips. Without doubt, coastal options attract the most interest. The south is also highly popular. Areas such as Almería, Cádiz, and Huelva combine proximity to the sea with attractive natural surroundings and tourist attractions. The Levante coast is very similar in this regard, with Valencia, Benicàssim, and Oliva among the main destinations. The north, for its part, is by no means short of appeal. The Asturian coast offers considerable attractions for Sixth Form end-of-year trips: activities such as the Sella river descent are complemented by multi-adventure and mountain sports.
Sixth Form End-of-Year Trips: International Destinations
International destinations are the biggest draw for Sixth Form end-of-year trips. Just as Mallorca is the jewel of domestic destinations, another island occupies the same position internationally: Malta. This destination offers a beach and tourist atmosphere that will delight any group of travellers. With participants from schools all around the world, the atmosphere generated is equally remarkable. Here, pupils can meet peers from a wide variety of countries, forging international friendships that can be long-lasting and hugely valuable for the future. Malta is the premier European destination for Sixth Form end-of-year trips and similar age groups. However, it is not the only one, and other parts of Europe also attract great interest for these trips.
For these destinations, Sixth Form groups often look for regions with a rich cultural offering. This way, it is possible to travel for longer than usual — a week or more — moving through a single area and getting to know it in depth. Italy is a classic choice in this respect. Beyond Rome, it offers vast regions to explore that will delight even the most enthusiastic tourist. Tuscany, Venice, and southern Italy are just some of these options. Portugal is another destination offering a wide cultural and tourist offer, and conveniently close to home. Croatia and Greece are also excellent options, a little further afield but full of possibilities.
For many participants, this will be their first experience of international travel. Moreover, it is not just any trip — it is shared with their classmates and friends. It is for this reason that taking this step in this kind of trip creates a unique and unforgettable memory, and can be decisive in developing a lifelong love of travel.
