Accommodation at the Villar Multi-Adventure & Beach Camp: Las Indianas Hostel

The Villar Multi-Adventure & Beach summer camp is based at the Albergue Las Indianas — a restored traditional Campurriana stone manor house situated in the heart of the small village of Villar de Campoo, right in the centre of Cantabria, 12 kilometres from Reinosa. Throughout the entire month of July, this village comes alive with the summer camp, and the group of campers quickly feels entirely at home amongst its streets and neighbours.

1. Introduction to Las Indianas Hostel

The Villar multi-adventure summer camp is based at Las Indianas Hostel, which sits right in the centre of the village. During the month of July it is reserved exclusively for the campers and activity leaders. The hostel operates as a tourist accommodation throughout the rest of the year and therefore benefits from year-round upkeep and maintenance.

2. Hostel Facilities

The hostel has capacity for 120 people, spread across 22 spacious and light-filled rooms accommodating between 2 and 12 guests. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. The hostel also features a restaurant, shared common areas, and a games room for children. Additional amenities include:

  • Workshop and activity room
  • Garden with outdoor seating and terraces
  • Two large multipurpose halls for evening events
  • Two outdoor meadows, including a football pitch
  • Indoor climbing wall
  • Private parking

Wholesome home-cooked menus are prepared using local produce in the in-house kitchen. The activity leaders and coordinators live at the hostel throughout the entire camp, sharing the fortnight with the campers and forming a close-knit group united by a single purpose: to have the best time possible.

3. The Natural Surroundings of Villar de Campoo

Las Indianas sits within a landscape that provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable fortnight. The village streets, lined with typical Cantabrian stone houses, become the stage for games, gymkhanas, and sporting tournaments. Come July, the whole village is transformed: what is ordinarily a sleepy hamlet becomes a place full of energy, laughter, and magic.

Surrounded by cattle pastures, ancient oak and beech woodland, and rivers with natural pools and waterfalls, the countryside around Las Indianas is extraordinarily rich. There is river swimming on the doorstep, vast mountain terrain to explore, and the beach less than an hour away by coach.

4. Experiences Near Las Indianas

Eighty kilometres separate Villar from Somo Beach, where the group heads for two separate beach days. On one of those days, campers take part in a surf course — beginners get their first taste of the waves, whilst more experienced surfers hone their technique.

The second beach day is one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the entire camp: a full-scale Beach Olympics alongside another Natuaventura camp, with 25 teams competing in sporting challenges on the sand, finishing with new friendships and the sun setting over the sea.

Other highlights in the area include the natural rock pools at Las Cervalizas, the River Híjar, the source of the River Ebro, and the Castle of Argüeso — many of which are visited during mountain hiking routes that form part of the multi-adventure programme.

Every time we say goodbye at the end of the Villar Camp, we are not just saying farewell to the children — we are also saying goodbye to our summer home: a thousand memories made in our favourite place, the perfect setting for this great family of the Villar Camp.
