What are end-of-year school trips?
End-of-year school trips are educational leisure stays undertaken by groups of pupils away from their school. They typically involve travelling to a destination of tourist or natural interest where the group lives together for 2 to 5 days, developing activities that complement classroom learning: teamwork, independence, mutual respect, shared living and contact with the environment.
Although historically associated with end-of-stage milestones (final year of primary or the end of GCSE years), today end-of-year trips take place across all year groups, from Year 1 all the way through to Sixth Form, with the programme and destination adapted to the age of the group.
Why take an end-of-year school trip?
Group cohesion
Spending days together away from the classroom strengthens relationships between classmates, particularly with those they are less close to in everyday school life.
Independence and confidence
A few days away from familiar surroundings, managing their own routines, develops the independence and self-assurance of all participants.
Experiential learning
Outdoor activities, cultural visits and group dynamics generate learning that the classroom cannot replicate.
Memories for life
The end-of-year trip is one of the most memorable experiences of school life, for pupils and teachers alike.
Reinforcement of values
Living together puts into practice the values worked on in the classroom: respect, cooperation, responsibility and empathy in real-life situations.
Opening up to the world
Discovering new destinations, cultures and environments broadens students’ perspectives and awakens curiosity about the world around them.
What types of end-of-year school trips are there?
🧑🤝🧑 With 24-hour activity leaders
The most complete and recommended option. Qualified leaders accompany the group at all times: activities, meals, evening sessions and overnight supervision. Teachers can rest.
🗺️ With a tour guide
Ideal for trips with a strong cultural component. A specialist guide accompanies the group on visits to towns and cities, museums and heritage sites.
🇬🇧 Language immersion
All activities and communication with the leaders take place in English. Perfect for reinforcing the language in a fun and natural way outside the classroom.
🏖️ Coastal destination
Water sports (surfing, sailing, kayaking), beach olympiads, sand games. Destinations such as Valencia, Salou, Benicàssim or the Costa del Sol.
🏔️ Mountain destination
Multi-adventure, hiking, climbing, zip wires in natural settings. Destinations such as Asturias, Cantabria, Madrid Sierra Norte or the Pyrenees.
🏛️ Cultural destination
Visits to historic towns and cities, museums and protected natural spaces. Combines curriculum learning with the experience of group travel.
How does an end-of-year trip with Natuaventura work?
Departure from school
The activity leader team joins from the school gates. The coach journey is the first point of contact: leaders introduce themselves, break the ice and start building a positive atmosphere before the group even reaches the destination.
Day one: settling in and the rules
Arrival at the accommodation, room allocation and presentation of the schedule. The rules of shared living are explained: respect among participants, communication with the leaders and how the days are organised.
Middle days: activities and shared life
A full programme of morning and afternoon activities adapted to the destination and age: multi-adventure, cultural visits, water sports, workshops, team challenges. Evening sessions organised by the leaders.
Last day: the journey home
Clearing the accommodation, loading the coach and returning to school. The leaders accompany the group to the agreed drop-off point.

How to choose the right end-of-year trip
Three key decisions before booking:
With or without activity leaders?
We always recommend the 24-hour activity leader option: greater safety for families, more activities, overnight supervision and teachers who can enjoy the trip instead of managing the group.
Which destination?
Depends on the age of the group, the time of year and the objectives. For primary school, we recommend nearby destinations (Madrid Sierra Norte) or classic ones (Asturias, Cantabria). For GCSE years, more options: coast, city or adventure.
In English or in Spanish?
If the school wants to reinforce English, the language immersion option is highly valued. Leaders communicate in English throughout all activities and the programme is designed to encourage use of the language.
