There are camps where you sleep indoors. And there are camps where you sleep under the stars of the Sierra de Gredos, to the sound of the Río Tormes. The Navarredonda Camp — known as the Aula de la Naturaleza Navarredonda de Gredos (Ávila) — is the latter: thirteen days under canvas, swims at the Pozo de las Paredes, climbing and bivouac nights that fill their places every summer at remarkable speed.
Arriving at the Aula de la Naturaleza
The coach departs from Madrid in the morning and, around midday, heads up the road to Navarredonda de Gredos. The facility is next to the Navagredos campsite and forms part of the Aula de la Naturaleza, a municipal infrastructure designed specifically for residential camps. You get off the coach, the tents are handed out, and camp begins. Participants are aged 7 to 17, organised into age groups with a maximum of 40 to 50 participants and a ratio of one activity leader to every eight.
A Day in Navarredonda
The camp lasts 13 days and, though no two days are the same, each one shares a common rhythm of technical activity, river swimming and long evenings stretching to the last laugh.
Waking up under canvas: the sun enters the 3–4 person tents early. Wash up in the shower block, breakfast in the covered dining room and team meeting.
Morning technical activity: climbing at the nearby climbing wall, archery, ropes garden or mountain hike in the Sierra de Gredos. Each group rotates through the multi-adventure disciplines.
Midday: home-cooked food from the camp’s own kitchen (four meals a day) in the covered dining room and rest in the shade.
Afternoon water and play session: swimming in the natural pools of the Río Tormes and at the Pozo de las Paredes, horse riding, zip line, Humor Amarillo or gymkhanas around the site.
Evening activity: after dinner, a themed party or activity. On Day 9 the plan changes: a night hike and overnight stay at the Navagredos campsite — one of the most memorable experiences of the camp.
What Makes Navarredonda Unique
Tents
3–4 person tents, non-mixed, in wooded and well-lit camping areas. The classic camp feeling in its purest form, with the Sierra de Gredos as a backdrop.
Río Tormes and Pozo de las Paredes
The natural pools of the Río Tormes and the swims at the Pozo de las Paredes are the star activity of the summer: cold clean water, mountain scenery and hours of play in the river.
Bivouac and Night Hike
On Day 9 of the camp, a night hike takes place followed by an overnight stay at the Navagredos campsite. A different experience within the camp itself.
On-site Medical Room with Beds
The facility has its own medical room equipped with beds. The village health centre, 24-hour emergency services and the Guardia Civil are all 5 minutes away.
