Accommodation at the Madrid Multiadventure Camp and Sierra de Madrid: Albergue Sierra Norte

The Albergue Sierra Norte accommodation

Our Madrid Multiadventure and Sierra de Madrid English Camp are held in the mountains of Madrid, specifically in the village of Manjirón. This small village belongs to the municipality of Puentes Viejas, located in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Both its proximity to an incomparable natural setting and the tranquillity of the area make it a perfect centre for running camps and enjoying a new way to spend the summer.

1. Introduction to the accommodation

The accommodation at a summer camp is one of the main characteristics that shapes its spirit and activity programme. It is the shared living space for a group over ten or fifteen days, and must therefore offer every possible comfort in keeping with the philosophy of the camp in question.

Albergue Sierra Norte is one of the finest examples of how important accommodation is at a summer camp. It is the venue where both the Madrid Multiadventure Camp and Sierra de Madrid English Camp take place, along with all their activities and dynamics. The spaces that make it up are not merely play areas or support facilities, but places for communal life and communication within the group.

Albergue Sierra Norte sits on one of the main estates in the north of the Community of Madrid, covering a total of 20,000 square metres. It is a hostel that welcomes visitors throughout the year, with facilities that are regularly built and maintained with large groups’ activities and communal living in mind.

2. The facilities of Albergue Sierra Norte

The Albergue Sierra Norte has 126 places in wooden cabins and 90 places in stone cabins. There are 21 wooden cabins with a capacity of six people each and stone cabins with a capacity of 12. Inside, you will find bunk beds and a couple of spaces where camp participants can leave their rucksacks and belongings. If Albergue Sierra Norte becomes home for ten days for participants in our Madrid camps, the wooden and stone cabins become the bedrooms of that home.

The accommodation has two dining areas, one outdoors and one indoors. The indoor one is where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the Madrid Multiadventure camp. It has capacity for up to 120 participants. It is situated next to the hostel kitchen, where daily menus are prepared. The food is based on fresh produce, used to create home-cooked, balanced meals that provide the energy needed for camp. The hostel also has a bathroom block. Here participants have toilets and showers for their daily hygiene routines.

The hostel for the Madrid Multiadventure Camp and Sierra de Madrid English Camp has large green spaces and areas dedicated to recreation and sport. One of these contains a football pitch that provides entertainment for campers during free time and, like the rest of the hostel’s areas, is also used for treasure hunts and games.

One of the main attractions of this hostel is its dedicated multiadventure area. This is divided into three sectors: archery, climbing and zip wire. All these activities together form the heart of the programme at the Madrid Multiadventure Camp and Sierra de Madrid English Camp. These open-air spaces within the Albergue Sierra Norte grounds allow participants to enjoy a camp in the heart of nature. Contact with the outdoors is constant and underpins many of the camp’s activities.

3. Experiences near the accommodation

The camp’s location is also notable for its proximity to the better-known town of Buitrago de Lozoya, a point of reference for the entire north of Madrid thanks to its tourist and heritage appeal. The surrounding natural landscape is also defined by the River Lozoya and the Atazar and Villar reservoirs, where some of the camp’s excursions and activities take place — what better way to discover the corners that nature has to offer in the Community of Madrid?

This is made possible by the numerous excursions that provide the perfect complement to the camp’s multiadventure programme. One of the main excursions is the trip campers make to the Riosequillo natural pools. The reservoir of the same name is one of the largest natural swimming areas in Spain. It has a recreational area with several bathing zones for both adults and children, combined with large green spaces. The Riosequillo excursion therefore combines games and activities both in the water and in the surrounding open spaces.

Alongside Riosequillo, our Madrid Multiadventure and Madrid in English camps also make excursions to the El Villar reservoir, where participants walk along its banks and take in the spectacular landscape of pine forests and reservoirs. The day-long route through the areas near the hostel also allows nature to be enjoyed through physical activity and trekking. The excursion ends with a night under canvas, where the group sleeps beneath an impressive canopy of stars. Excursions, multiadventure, workshops, treasure hunts… a unique programme for a one-of-a-kind camp.

4. The Madrid Multiadventure camp

One of the main objectives of the Madrid Multiadventure camp, making full use of the Albergue Sierra Norte’s natural setting, is to foster a strong sense of community and camaraderie. This is achieved not only through the activities carried out throughout the camp, but also through the dynamics promoted by the team of monitors and through the concept of communal living itself.

The village of Manjirón itself, with its narrow streets and small population, comes alive when the summer camp arrives and becomes a unique space for games and fun. This combination of nature and multiadventure activities makes this camp a complete summer option for the youngest participants.

5. The Sierra de Madrid English Camp

It is not always necessary to go far from home for your children to enjoy a summer camp in English. It is possible right here in Madrid. Enjoying all the great experiences and games of a summer camp whilst learning English in a fun way is achievable thanks to the team of bilingual monitors who will speak in English throughout the camp. To communicate, the young participants will have to use English in workshops, games and multiadventure activities. Find out everything about Sierra de Madrid English Camp.

5. Summary

For those of us who live in the great city of Madrid, a summer camp within its boundaries might not seem particularly appealing at first glance — until you discover Albergue Sierra Norte. Its green grounds, wooden cabins, cosy lounges and outdoor dining area create an ecosystem far removed from the noise of the city and truly worthy of the Sierra de Madrid. Camps such as Madrid Multiadventure and Sierra de Madrid English have their own personality, and a large part of that is undoubtedly thanks to their magical accommodation.
