Climbing, archery, mountain hiking, kayaking, surfing, ropes course. Multi-adventure sports are not just the attraction of a camp: they are a full-body workout for the body, coordination and the mind. In this article we look at the specific physical and cognitive benefits of each discipline and where they are practised in the Natuaventura catalogue.
Why multi-adventure is a whole-body sport
Unlike a single sport (football, tennis), multi-adventure engages a wide variety of muscles and movement patterns. A week at a camp might combine climbing, balance at height, paddling, archery, uphill walking and cooperative games. The body learns to coordinate different muscle groups each day, and the mind learns to make quick decisions in changing environments.
Physical benefits by activity
Climbing / climbing wall
Works forearm strength, back and core. Improves proprioception, flexibility and movement planning. At Natuaventura: climbing wall at Albergue Sierra Norte, at Alta-Lai (Cuenca) and at the Daroca facility.
Archery
Pure concentration, breath control, posture. Activates the shoulder girdle and core. A mental discipline that teaches you to miss and aim again. Practised at all multi-adventure camps in the catalogue.
Mountain hiking
Cardiovascular endurance, strengthening the lower body, regulating effort. Sierra Norte de Madrid, Sierra de Gredos, Casillas de Ranera and Font Roja at Daroca are the settings.
Surfing
Dynamic balance, trunk control, reading the sea. Intense cardio from paddling and pushing up. A 4-day course (Santander Surf 10 Days) or 5-day course (Fortnight) with an official school on Cantabrian beaches.
Ropes course and zip line
Balance at height, managing fear, grip strength. Works the whole body. Available at Gredos, Navarredonda, Navatormes, Daroca and Santander Surf Fortnight.
Kayaking / canoeing
Works arms, back and core, bilateral coordination, reading the water. At Daroca, river descent by kayak and canoe.

Frequently asked questions
Is a previous sporting level required?
No. The disciplines are taught from the ground up, with qualified activity leaders and adapted equipment. Returning participants work on their technique.
Is it safe to do climbing or a zip line?
Yes, with certified equipment and specialist activity leaders. The climbing wall and ropes course installations are inspected regularly.
My child is sedentary — will they struggle?
This is one of the profiles that changes the most. The progression is designed to start at any level and the fun format means the effort does not feel like training.
Is there a risk of injury?
Activities are supervised and the leader ratio (1 per 8) allows individual monitoring. The nearby medical team and on-site first-aid kit cover minor incidents.
Which activity would you recommend to start with?
For younger children, classic multi-adventure (Madrid, Cuenca) with climbing and archery. For teenagers looking for something more demanding, Santander Surf with an official course or Daroca with kayaking and two beach days.
