Discover Valencia in 2 days in the end of the school year trip.

Valencia in 2 days

As we have seen in this guide, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and offers many tourism possibilities for all tastes. This destination is one of the most popular for its location, accessibility and good prices. We invite you to discover Valencia in 2 days on your New Year’s Eve trip!

In this article we show you which places you cannot miss on your 2-day trip to Valencia: history, modernity, nature, entertainment, etc. Regarding traditional gastronomy, Valencia offers you the best dishes of the Mediterranean diet: rice dishes, paella, seafood, Spanish tapas, etc. Also, Valencia’s nightlife is very lively: in the streets surrounding the cathedral, you can find a multitude of bars, pubs, restaurants and stores to complement the walks through the narrow streets of the historic center.

First day: Ciutat Vella, traditional gastronomy and the Russafa neighborhood

The first thing to do when you arrive in Valencia is to take a leisurely stroll through the main squares of the city and its historic center: The Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Plaza de la Virgen comprise the most outstanding part of the monumental area. Do not forget to visit the Cathedral, the building of the Generalitat, the Museum of Modern Art (IVAN), the Central Market or the Lonja de la Seda and the North Station. And, after seeing the most outstanding monuments, take a walk. Like all travel destinations, the best way to get to know a city is by walking; strolling through corners that are not highlighted on the map, squares with unknown names, streets you never thought you were going to find.

To try a real Valencian paella, our recommendation is to visit the restaurants on the Playa de las Arenas beach so you can eat paella overlooking the Mediterranean.

Later, you can visit the Russafa neighborhood. This trendy neighborhood will make you fall in love with its mix of antiquity and modernity, its beautiful bars, its small and original stores and, for its people and atmosphere. Come and have a drink at its market, you will be surprised!

At some point of the intense day of sightseeing, you cannot forget to try the famous and traditional Valencian horchata. We recommend the Horchatería de Santa Catalina, located in the square of the same name, with more than two centuries of tradition. Include it in your planning for your end-of-year trip to Valencia; your school group will love it!

Day 2: City of Arts and Sciences and beaches

After a good rest, we continue the itinerary to visit Valencia in 2 days. The second day of the visit begins with a trip to the City of Arts and Sciences and the Oceanogràfic. As everyone will have already told you, this is the great attraction of the city of Valencia.

This recreational center of scientific and cultural diffusion is composed of a science museum (the Príncipe Felipe Museum) and the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe. It is conceived as a city within the city: a large open space, full of cultural, scientific and leisure interests.

We propose an alternative plan to complete your visit to the City of Arts and Sciences: a bike ride through the city. The old riverbed of the Turia River is now a 9km landscaped promenade that connects the City of Arts and Sciences with the Parc de Capçalera. A plan that your students will surely enjoy on their end-of-year trip.

And last but not least, one of the great advantages of Valencia is its mild climate that allows you to enjoy it all year long. A visit to its beaches is a must. The beach of El Cabanyal (Las Arenas) is located a few minutes from downtown and has an impressive and long promenade that has become one of the leisure areas for walking, skating, jogging, sunbathing and having a drink in the establishments in the area. To the north of this beach is La Malvarrosa Beach, with a great amplitude and fine sand.
