The Piedralaves Adventure Camp is temporarily out of the catalogue and will return in summer 2027. If you would like to be notified when enrolment opens, please contact the Natuaventura office. This page describes the facilities and surroundings where the camp took place, in the heart of the Valle del Tiétar (Ávila), within the Sierra de Gredos natural area.
The location: Piedralaves, Valle del Tiétar
Piedralaves is a village in the province of Ávila situated in the heart of the Valle del Tiétar, surrounded by mountains and green landscapes within the Sierra de Gredos area. It is a privileged natural setting with crystal-clear rivers, mountain trails and the famous natural swimming pools that characterise the region — ideal for a camp experience in the midst of nature.
The facility: an enclosed private site
The camp took place in an enclosed private site, not shared with any other groups, where both the campers and the activity leader team were accommodated. The facility opened with recently refurbished spaces designed to combine fun, comfort and safety.
Enclosed dining room and multipurpose hall
A building with a dining room that also served as a multipurpose hall for rainy or cold days. A covered space where the camp could carry on regardless of the weather.
Kitchen and pantry
A dedicated kitchen with pantry where home-cooked meals were prepared. Full board included for every day of the camp.
Brand-new bathrooms
Completely new bathrooms, divided by gender — both with individual shower cubicles to guarantee privacy and comfort.
Equipment store and first-aid kit
A storeroom and fully equipped first-aid kit, with activity leaders trained in first aid and 24-hour supervision.
Sports court
A multipurpose court for football and basketball, plus table-tennis tables for free-play periods and team sports.
Open esplanade and outdoor picnic area
A large open esplanade among the trees for big activities, gymkhanas and free time. Outdoor picnic benches within the grounds for relaxing and socialising.
Accommodation: glamping-style tipis
At Piedralaves, participants slept on bunk beds inside glamping-style tipis: capacity for 6 or 8 people, arranged with friend-preference criteria (where possible), divided by age group (younger and older) and separated by gender (girls and boys separately).
How it was organised
- Tipis with 6–8 bunk-bed spaces
- Allocation by age group
- Gender separation
- Friend preferences taken into account where possible
- Each tipi with a dedicated activity leader
Why this format worked
- Pure camp spirit
- Highly enriching group-living experience
- Direct connection with nature
- Without sacrificing comfort
- Daily conversation time with the activity leader
Safety and team
Qualified activity leaders and coordinator: a professional team with qualifications and first-aid training, providing round-the-clock supervision.
First-aid kit and support vehicles: medical supplies and vehicles available for excursions and any eventuality.
Emergency and organisation contact numbers: direct contact with families and emergency services always available.
Sports and recreational equipment: dedicated multi-adventure activity equipment, maintained and checked by specialist activity leaders.
Insurance included: public liability and accident insurance for all campers.
Why the surroundings were special
The combination of the Sierra de Gredos regional park, the Valle del Tiétar microclimate, and the proximity of natural swimming pools and trails made Piedralaves a setting that is hard to replicate. The site was private, which allowed all activities to run without interruption and maintained a strong sense of community throughout the camp.
