A Mountain Facility: The Multiadventure Camp in Piedralaves, Ávila

In 2024 we moved our long-standing camp from Barco de Ávila to another small village in Ávila called Piedralaves. However, we maintained the same dynamics, spirit and values — we simply changed the location in order to keep improving.

The Multiadventure Piedralaves mountain camp, situated in the heart of the Valle del Tiétar, is a wonderful option for adventurers seeking a unique experience in the midst of nature.

In 2025 we are unveiling brand-new facilities, freshly built and designed to guarantee fun, comfort and safety, making this camp an exceptional choice for a mountain camp.

It is a dynamic, fully equipped space for enjoying twelve days with all the comforts needed for an authentic experience in nature. It benefits from the natural protection and privilege of belonging to the Sierra de Gredos regional park.

1. The Location: Piedralaves, Valle del Tiétar

Our multiadventure camp is set deep in the mountains, in Piedralaves, in the Valle del Tiétar. It is a privileged natural environment, surrounded by impressive mountains and green landscapes, ideal for practising a variety of sports and outdoor activities that invite adventure and discovery.

The facility is situated in the heart of the Sierra de Gredos, surrounded by vast woodland, natural pools and an idyllic setting for nature-based activities.

This location is no coincidence; it was carefully chosen to offer a unique camp experience, where nature plays a crucial role in the development of activities. The proximity to crystal-clear rivers and mountain trails allows campers to explore the beauty of the surroundings whilst taking part in exciting activities.

Furthermore, we sleep in glamping-style tipis with bunk beds — the essence of camp spirit in its purest form. In this way, we also promote wellbeing and a connection with nature without sacrificing comfort.

2. Mountain Facilities of the Multiadventure Piedralaves Camp

Recreational areas and spaces for outdoor activities — every detail has been carefully planned to offer a complete experience. Furthermore, the mountain setting provides a unique and stimulating environment for activity development.

Not to mention that it is a private, enclosed site where both campers and the monitor team are accommodated. In this way, both the activities and the supervision of communal life are managed by a team of professionals.

Within the facility, just a short distance from the tipis, are the buildings that provide the technical support needed to run the camp. This includes:

• A building with an enclosed dining room, which will also serve as a multipurpose space (particularly for weather-related reasons such as rain or cold).
• A pantry and kitchen where home-cooked food is prepared.
• Brand-new bathrooms divided by gender (both with individual showers).
• A materials room and first-aid kit.
• A court for football, basketball and table tennis.
• Outdoor picnic areas within the facility.
• A large open area among the trees for activities and for resting and socialising during free time.

And most importantly, we do not share facilities — they are private and dedicated solely to our camp.

FACILITIES AND SAFETY

We also complete the facilities with everything needed for the best possible camp experience, including qualified monitors and a coordinator available 24 hours; a first-aid kit, support vehicles, sports and leisure equipment; emergency phone lines and an organisation number for calling home; specialist monitors for multiadventure activities; transport for excursions; public liability and accident insurance; full board, etc.

Safety is a priority at our camps. Monitors and coordinators keep watch 24 hours and are trained in first aid, ensuring that any situation can be handled efficiently and effectively. This attention to safety allows participants to fully enjoy the activities without worry, knowing they are in good hands and in a safe environment.

3. How Is the Sleeping Accommodation Organised?

At Piedralaves we sleep in bunk beds inside glamping-style tipis. It is a wonderful way to step outside our comfort zone and live the experience to the full, whilst remaining in a comfortable and safe space.

At Natuaventura we see this as a very important part of the experience, where fundamental aspects key to the personal growth and learning of campers come into play.

Besides, who doesn’t enjoy sleeping with all their friends in a cabin surrounded by nature? The laughter is endless and communal life becomes enormously fun.

How Many People Do the Tipis Hold?

They have capacity for 6 or 8 people.

The allocation of accommodation takes into account:

• Preferences for friends (this is always attempted, though changes or adjustments may occur).
• Division into age groups (younger and older).
• Gender (girls and boys separately).

Each tipi will have a reference monitor, who campers can always turn to for anything and with whom they will speak every day — especially before going to sleep — to share how the camp is going, how they are feeling and how the day’s activities went, as a form of feedback.

This is an initiative that works very well at all our camps, as campers will have a trusted monitor they can talk to about anything whenever needed.

4. The Camp’s Surroundings and Its Mountain and Multiadventure Activities

The natural surroundings of our Piedralaves Multiadventure Camp offer endless opportunities for mountain and multiadventure activities.

From hiking to rock climbing, mountain routes and swimming in natural rivers, there are options for all tastes and skill levels. We also make sure to complete the camp programme with workshops, bivouacs and very special activities such as a night-time hike or a Yellow Humour circuit.

A Typical Day at Camp

The Piedralaves camp is organised around three activity slots: morning, afternoon and the evening event. There are four meals: breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner. Alongside the activities, there is also free time during which boys and girls can choose to take part in games organised by the monitor team or have some space to themselves.

During those moments, participants enjoy time for themselves to socialise and engage in free play. The monitor team lives alongside them throughout the camp, so they also take part in these periods, creating an atmosphere of trust and a family feeling so strong that it is often what encourages children to come back to camp every summer.
