Summer Camps for Employees’ Children: A Guide for HR

More and more companies are including summer camps for employees’ children as part of their work-life balance and flexible benefits policy. For HR departments, it is a direct way of easing the well-known July–August gap, when schools close but the working day continues. This is the practical information you need to evaluate the Natuaventura catalogue as a staff benefit.

Why It Works as an Employee Benefit

Covers the Whole of July

The camps cover the first fortnight (1–14 July), the second (16–29 July) and, at some destinations, the first ten days of August. Options of 10 and 13–14 days are available.

Ages 6 to 17

Children in nursery, primary school, secondary school and Sixth Form can all attend one of the camps in the catalogue. The wide age range avoids the problem of «my child doesn’t qualify».

Operational Peace of Mind

A ratio of 1 group leader for every 8 participants, 4 meals a day with an on-site kitchen, calls home every 3–4 days, a social-media diary and a recommended pocket money of 20–30 €.

How to Structure the Benefit

Via flexible remuneration: the camp is one of the eligible products within the company plan, typically with tax savings for the employee.

Via a bonus or direct subsidy: the company subsidises a percentage of the camp cost as a contribution for employees with school-age children.

Via group booking: joint reservation of places for employees’ children with specific conditions agreed with the organisation.

Documentation We Typically Send to HR

An information sheet for each camp (PDF), the cancellation policy (up to 1 March: 20 €, up to 15 May: 100 €, thereafter: 100% of the amount paid, with optional cancellation insurance), included insurance details and coordination team contacts. We are available for internal information sessions.

HR Frequently Asked Questions

Are there discounts for block bookings?

Conditions for company programmes are agreed on a case-by-case basis. Contact the Natuaventura team to review the specific arrangements for your plan.

What is the leader-to-participant ratio?

1 group leader for every 8 participants, in groups of a maximum of 40–50 campers organised by age.

How do phone calls and mobile phones work?

Mobiles are permitted but collected on arrival and returned every 3–4 days for calls home. The team also publishes a social-media diary so families can follow day-to-day life at camp.

How many meals are served and what is the food like?

Four meals a day (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner), with an on-site kitchen, home-cooked food and menus adapted for allergies and intolerances.

Is pocket money needed?

We recommend between 20 and 30 € per participant for incidental expenses (shops on excursions, souvenirs, etc.). The money is kept by the group leaders.
