Natuaventura organises two surf camps in Santander that share a hostel, beach and philosophy but suit different profiles. Santander Surf Quincena opens its doors to children from age 7 with an intensive fifteen days; Santander Surf 10 Days is designed exclusively for teenagers (13–17). Here is the practical comparison to help you choose the right format for your child.
What both camps have in common
Before looking at the differences, it is worth knowing what is shared by both formats: Albergue Montecorona (Calle Aviche 37, Santander, Monte neighbourhood), a venue with more than 40 years of history that Natuaventura has been organising since 2004. La Maruca beach is just 10 minutes away, rooms hold 6 to 12 participants and are not mixed-gender, with separate bathroom facilities, there are 4 meals a day with an on-site kitchen, and the ratio is 1 activity leader per 8 participants, with groups of a maximum of 40–50 children.

Which to choose based on your child’s profile?
Children aged 7 to 12
The option is Santander Surf Quincena: it is the only one of the two open to this age range. Groups are always divided by age and the youngest children have their own activity schedule.
Teenagers wanting a first short camp
Santander Surf 10 Days is ideal for a first summer away from home: ten concentrated days, an exclusively teenage atmosphere and a more accessible price.
Teenagers who want a longer surf course
If the main goal is more time in the waves, the Quincena offers a 5-day surf course versus the 4 days of the shorter format, as well as the Beach Olympics with Villar.
Siblings of different ages
If there is a child of 10 and a teenager of 15, the Quincena allows them to go to the same session and the same hostel, divided into age groups but sharing the same environment.
Three sessions vs two: flexibility of dates
Santander Surf 10 Days covers virtually the whole of July with its three sessions (1–10, 11–20 and 21–30), giving considerable room to fit around family holidays. The Quincena, covering fifteen days, only has two sessions (1–14 and 16–29 July) and requires more advance planning.
Frequently asked comparative questions
Can my 12-year-old attend Santander Surf 10 Days?
No. Santander Surf 10 Days is exclusively for teenagers aged 13 to 17. For children aged 7 to 12, the only Santander option at Natuaventura is Santander Surf Quincena, which does accept that age range.
How much more surf practice does the Quincena include?
The Quincena includes a 5-day surf course, compared to the 4 days of the 10-day camp. That is one extra day of sessions with the partner school, as well as complementary beach activities.
What activity clearly sets the Quincena apart?
The Beach Olympics alongside the Villar Camp is exclusive to Santander Surf Quincena. So are Holirun, Romel and Mongomeri, Los Picassos rebeldes and the visit to Santoña in addition to Santillana del Mar.
And the 10-day format?
The 10-day camp includes activities designed specifically for teenagers such as the Spartan Race, Greenpeace Survival 2.0 and giant snakes and ladders, as well as the visit to Santillana del Mar.
Are the mobile phone, money and communication rules the same?
Yes. In both camps, mobiles are collected on arrival and returned for calls home every 3–4 days, €20–30 of pocket money is recommended, and the organisation publishes a daily diary on social media throughout the stay.
