English Camp in the Sierra de Madrid

Everything About Our English Camp in the Sierra de Madrid

It is not always necessary to go far from home for your children to enjoy an English summer camp. In Madrid, it is also possible. Enjoying the great experiences and games of a summer camp whilst learning English in a fun way is achievable, thanks to the team of bilingual group leaders who will speak in English throughout the duration of the camp. In order to communicate with each other, the young participants will need to use English in the workshops, games and multiadventure activities. Here is everything you need to know about Sierra de Madrid English Camp.

1. Camp Accommodation: The Albergue Sierra Norte

The English camp takes place in the mountains of Madrid, in the village of Manjirón. The specific accommodation is the Albergue Sierra Norte, situated on one of the main estates in the north of the Community of Madrid, covering a total of 20,000 square metres. It is a hostel that welcomes visitors throughout the year, whose facilities are built and regularly maintained with a view to accommodating the activities and communal living of large groups.

One of the advantages of doing the English Camp at the Albergue Sierra Norte is that the accommodation itself has facilities for many of these activities. This means one of the days in the programme is devoted exclusively to a set of multiadventure activities: climbing, archery and zip-lining. All of these are run by professional group leaders who hold qualifications in their respective disciplines.

Throughout the 10 days of camp, the children stay in stone cabins. These are stone cabins with a capacity for twelve people. The accommodation also has two dining rooms, one outdoor and one indoor, a bathroom block, a football pitch and spacious green areas for recreational sports.

2. What Is a Language Immersion Experience Like for Children?

Although total immersion can feel daunting at first, language immersion camps are the best option for combining learning with fun. Because the language is integrated into daily life and all the scheduled activities, participants will learn almost without realising it and without any effort. Constant exposure helps them adapt quickly and overcome language barriers, allowing participants to build solid confidence in their ability to communicate in English.

This is a camp aimed at participants with an intermediate level of English, who will understand and enjoy the camp and, along the way, improve their spoken English. There will be multiadventure activities, water activities, themed workshops, excursions and evening events — all with the overriding principle that English will be the language of communication throughout the entire stay. Of course, in exceptional circumstances such as illness or personal problems, participants will be able to speak in Spanish with their designated group leader.

Our Sierra de Madrid English Camp is an example of a summer camp close to Madrid, in direct contact with nature and with a full programme of outdoor activities — all led by a perfectly prepared team of bilingual group leaders who will carry out the entire programme with English naturally integrated, ensuring the summer camp is a complete success and that participants return home with a better level of English, almost without effort.

3. Multiadventure Activities

In addition to the multiadventure programme already mentioned, the activities are not limited solely to those carried out in the mountains. They cover all types of sport that involve contact with nature. For that reason, given that the Sierra Norte de Madrid surroundings we have described also include impressive stretches of water, what better than to add water activities to the camp’s programme? Making the most of its magnificent location, the Sierra de Madrid English Camp also includes activities such as canoeing. This takes place on the Atazar reservoir and will be one of the experiences they remember most when the camp is over.

In addition to this, the camp benefits from the proximity of the municipal swimming pool in the village of Manjirón. The group will visit it several times to cool off and supplement the daily activities with fun games and group dynamics.

And that is not all. Sierra de Madrid English Camp also makes excursions to the Riosequillo natural pools and the El Villar reservoir, where participants walk along its banks and take in the spectacular landscape of pine forests and reservoirs.

On top of all these multiadventure activities, there is a packed calendar of games, group dynamics, workshops, treasure hunts and evening events that the group leaders will have prepared for the campers each year.

4. Why Choose Sierra de Madrid English Camp

What to do when the season of high temperatures, dips in the pool and free time arrives in Madrid? Within a week of the start of their holidays, children begin to get bored and parents start to feel overwhelmed. In Madrid, with the stifling summer heat and packed urban swimming pools, there is not much to do, and parents need a way to balance work and family life during this period. That is why one of the best solutions to stop everyone going stir-crazy during the holiday period is to sign the children up for a summer camp.

And the decision is even easier when that camp is just 1 hour from Madrid. Thanks to the Albergue Sierra Norte, our children can have a genuinely immersive experience: immersed in nature on the one hand, and in another language on the other. Without realising it, children not only become comfortable with the natural mountain environment, but also with English as their primary means of communication.
