Multi-Adventure Activities: What Happens at a Summer Camp

When people talk about «multi-adventure activities», a classic set of disciplines appears in almost every camp. This is the quick guide to what a young person will encounter and how each one works.

The great classics

Climbing

On the facility’s own climbing wall or a nearby natural rock face. With certified equipment, harness and a qualified activity leader. It teaches wall reading, confidence and teamwork (climber and belayer).

Archery

On meadows or dedicated areas with regulation targets. One of the most popular activities: it combines technique, concentration and immediate results.

Mountain hikes

Guided trekking through the camp’s surroundings. Distances adapted by age. Teaches navigation, pacing and respect for the environment.

Ropes course

A high-ropes circuit with zip line, bear traverse, Tibetan bridge and cable walk. Permanent safety equipment and an activity leader at every station.

The ones that really get you hooked

Bivouac

A night away from the main accommodation, with a sleeping bag under the stars or in a tent. One of the most vivid memories of the camp.

Surfing and kayaking

At coastal camps (Santander) or with a nearby river. Board and wetsuit or kayak included. Courses run by an official school.

Inflatable games

A full day of giant inflatables and cooperative games. Collective laughter. The most requested activity year after year.

Themed treasure hunts

Team challenges with a narrative thread. Live Cluedo, capture the flag and the treasure hunt are classics.

Complementary activities

Water-based

  • Natural river swimming pools
  • Hostel or municipal swimming pool
  • Swimming in natural pools (Pozo de las Paredes in Gredos)
  • A day at a nearby beach

Creative and evening

  • Arts and music workshops
  • Evening shows with theatre or playback
  • Themed fancy-dress parties
  • Outdoor cinema and «sleep outside» night

How the day is organised

Morning: technical activity (climbing, archery or hiking).

Midday: lunch, rest and supervised free time.

Afternoon: big team game, treasure hunt or water activity.

Evening: dinner and themed evening programme.

Equipment and safety

All technical activities (climbing, zip line, ropes course, surfing) are carried out with certified equipment, qualified activity leaders and reviewed safety protocols. Groups rotate through each discipline in turn to avoid overcrowding, and a ratio of 1 activity leader per 8 participants is maintained throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Is prior experience required for any activity?

No. All disciplines are adapted to introductory level and activity leaders progress the pace according to age and ability.

What if a child is afraid of heights?

The activity leader adapts the activity. Nobody is forced to go higher. The idea is to challenge, not to frighten.

Are there activities suitable for both 6-year-olds and 16-year-olds?

The group is divided by age. Each group does age-adapted versions of the same activity.

What clothing should I bring?

Sports clothing that can get dirty, closed footwear for hiking, swimwear and sandals. The organisation sends a complete kit list.

What happens when it rains?

Indoor activities are planned in advance: workshops, cooperative games, cinema. Plan Bs are part of the camp experience.
