Location and transport

Camp Location

The hostel is located in the Monte neighbourhood, just 3 km from the beaches of El Sardinero and La Magdalena. It is also on the outskirts of the city centre, surrounded by nature, offering a calm and peaceful setting away from the noise and bustle of urban areas. Santander and its surroundings offer an incomparable backdrop for nature activities, combining beach and mountain.

The accommodation is 2 km from La Maruca beach, reached by a short walk along the footpaths of the Barrio Monte. Another of Cantabria’s great tourist attractions is just 30 minutes by bus from the Albergue Monte Corona: the village of Santillana del Mar, with its incredible historic quarter full of stories and local shops where children always take the opportunity to buy souvenirs for their families.

We cannot talk about the experiences around the hostel without mentioning the famous hike to Berria Beach that our Santander Surf Camps carry out.

Frequently asked questions

We have nearby health centres, as well as assistance services provided by our insurance, ready to respond to any emergency.

We work with a team of one activity leader for every 8 participants. We also have additional organisation staff, such as the camp coordinator and other support personnel. The team of activity leaders and the coordinator live on site and look after the children 24 hours a day.

All our camps have a catering team on site. We prepare a balanced menu adapted to each day’s activities. We always serve 4 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. If your child has any food allergy, do not worry — they will have an adapted menu as similar as possible to what the other children are eating. If during the camp your child tells you they are not happy with the food, PLEASE LET US KNOW — it is a priority for us and we will resolve it immediately once we are aware.

There is no laundry service, but if a child runs out of clean clothes we will help them and wash what they need. On the kit list we ask you to pack a variety of clothing for every day of the camp.

If your child needs to take any medication, their cabin/room activity leader will be responsible for keeping it and giving it to them at each dose you have set out for us. Children do not need to bring a first aid kit; if they need any other medicine we will arrange it for them, after a visit to the doctor or after speaking with you if it is something minor.

Each child must bring their health card or a photocopy, which we will collect on arrival at the camp. The camp includes accident insurance, but we will use the health card if they need to see a doctor for a common illness.

Yes, it is an optional service. We have transport from Madrid and Las Rozas.

Yes, they can bring a mobile phone, but they will not have it on them day to day. We will give them their phone so they can call home every 3–4 days. These calls can be made with their own phone or with phones we provide for calling home. It is not necessary to bring a mobile phone. You can also contact us at any time on the emergency number. You will always be informed if there is any incident.

The camp is all-inclusive, but they can bring a small amount of pocket money to buy a soft drink or snacks on excursions.

Every day campers have free time to enjoy the camp in their own way and spend time with their friends. After lunch and before dinner they will have this time. During this period the activity leaders remain on hand and have optional activities such as sports games available.

We have hostel rooms sleeping 6 to 12 people. We organise the rooms by talking with the children themselves on the first day after running games so they can get to know each other. We manage it so they are with other campers of similar ages and can be with their friends if they came together. If they do not know anyone, do not worry — we take care of it. The rooms are not mixed; boys and girls sleep separately.

We do not have a scheduled parents’ day at camp, but if you wish to visit your child please get in touch with us. At the end of the camp, the child may be collected by their father or mother, or by a person designated by you and authorised in writing before collection.
